PSALM 22 PROPHESIED THE CRUCIFIXION
22 gave some hints as to what would happen to the Messiah, i.e. Jesus.
The following are some verses that allude to this (from Holy Bible, King
1. His hands and feet were to be pierced.
Psalm 22:16 - They pierced my hands and my feet.
Matthew 27:35, Mark 15:24, Luke 23:33, John 19:18 - They crucified Him.
2. They were to cast lots for His garments.
Psalm 22:18 - They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my
Matthew 27:35, Mark 15:24, Luke 23:34, John 19:23-24 - They parted His
garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the
prophet, 'They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they
3. He was to be mocked and taunted.
Psalm 22:6-8 - But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and
despised of the people. All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot
out the lip, they shake the head, saying, 'He trusted on the Lord that he
would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.'
Matthew 27: 39-40, Mark 15:29-30, Luke 23:35 - And they that passed by
reviled him, wagging their heads, and saying, "Thou that destroyest the
temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of
God, come down from the cross."
There are other prophecies in the Old Testament which were fulfilled in
Jesus. Could you please cite them?
The prophecies were made hundreds of years before the coming of Jesus. Who
could have given such prophecies and make them be fulfilled? Only God, the
true God! And this is what distinguishes the true God from the false gods.
The true God can prophesy and make them be fulfilled whereas the false gods
cannot prophesy. This how we should test whether the God/god we are
worshipping and believing is the true God or not. Let us not just follow
the religion or beliefs that our parents gave us. We have to search for the
true God ourselves. Our parents cannot save our soul. It is only us who can save it.
