Please note:

  1. A ? in the DATE column indicates that the date when the holiday is observed in the Gregorian calendar varies from year to year.
  2. The public holidays in the Aristean calendar have fixed dates and day of week.
  3. There are ten (10) public holidays per year in the Gregorian calendar.
  4. There are ten (10) public holidays per year in the Aristean calendar in common years and eleven (11) in leap years.?The eleventh is Leap Year Day.
  5. The Queen’s Birthday is deleted in June.?It could be observed instead on December 31.
  6. In the Gregorian, May Day is held on the first Monday of May.?It is suggested that May Day be called Labour Day to be held in the Aristean on October 29, the last Monday of October, so that the gap between the public holidays in August and December is almost equal.
  7. In the Gregorian, Picnic Day is held on the first Monday of August.? It is suggested that Picnic Day in the Aristean be held on July 1, the first Monday of July, so that the public holidays are spaced evenly.?Also, during leap years, June 31 and July 1 would give a four-day long weekend.
  8. Good Friday is replaced by Crucifixion Day, August 17, Saturday; Easter Monday by Resurrection Day, August 20, Tuesday.?Crucifixion Day and Resurrection Eve is equivalent to only one public holiday.?Since Crucifixion Day falls on a Saturday, the Monday following it is declared as public holiday in lieu of the Saturday holiday.
  9. Christmas Day is presently observed on December 25 but in the Aristean calendar, it will be observed on its correct date, May 23, a Friday.? An additional holiday is Christmas Eve, May 22, Thursday.?This gives a four-day-long weekend.
  10. World Peace Day, December 31, a no-weekday, is observed as a holiday worldwide.?This gives a four-day-long weekend, December 29, Saturday; December 30, Sunday; December 31, World Peace Day; and January 1, New Year’s Day.
  11. Every leap year, a holiday worldwide is observed when the leap day is inserted or intercalated into the calendar to keep the calendar in step with the seasons.?This is held on June 31, a no-weekday, giving a three-day long weekend: June 29, Saturday; June 30, Sunday; and June 31, a no-weekday holiday.
  12. Regional observances are as follows:
    a.   Alice Springs Show Day, first Friday of July; July 5 in the Aristean,

b.      Tennant Creek Show Day, second Friday of July; July 12 in the Aristean,

c.      Katherine Show Day, third Friday of July; July 19 in the Aristean, and

d.      Darwin Show Day, fourth Friday of July; July 26 in the Aristean.

  1. All holidays are subject to government regulations.
